I haven’t picked Ranbir over Mahesh Babu: Tamannaah
Actor Tamannaah Bhatia has been caught up in controversy for the last few months. First, director Salim Akhtar filed a legal case against her, and then reports emerged that she backed out of a film with Mahesh Babu to star in a Bollywood flick with Ranbir Kapoor.
But Tamannaah says the rumour is baseless. “I am not doing any other Hindi film other than Himmatwala (with Ajay Devgn). I haven’t turned down Mahesh Babu’s film.

When such rumours appear in the media, I don’t take them seriously. I guess rumours are a part and parcel of actors’ lives now,” she says.
Even about Akhtar’s claim that according to their contract, he is supposed to get 25 per cent of the profit from her films, she says, “The matter is being dealt in the court. As of now, I can only say that the contract is fraudulent and the claim is illegal. So, what made her take up a Bollywood project after such a long gap — she made her debut with Chand Sa Roshan Chehra in 2005?
“Honestly speaking, I was just 13 when I did my first film. But, now it doesn’t matter what movie I am doing and or language I speak in. As an actor it is important that I keep giving quality work,” she says. She had watched Himmatwala while growing up.
“Bagging the role of Sridevi is a great opportunity for me as well as a challenge. I look up to her,” she says. Recently, Tusshar Kapoor was upset with Sridevi’s remarks that Himmatwala is not a classic. However, Tamannaah refrains from commenting on the matter, saying, “That’s her personal view.”
